Generation of functional multipotent adult stem cells from [GPR125.sup.+] germline progenitors
Article Abstract:
A study aims to find out whether functional multipotent adult spermatogonial progenitor cells can be generated from an orphan adhesion-type G-protein-coupled receptor. Results reveal that cultivation on mitotically inactivated testicular feeders containing [CD34.sup.+] stromal cells can generate highly proliferative adult spermatogonial progenitor cells.

Essential role for oncogenic Ras in tumour maintenance
Article Abstract:
Melanoma genesis and maintenance are shown to be strictly dependent on expression of H-RasV12G in a doxycycline-inducible H-RasV12G mouse melanoma model, null for the INK4a tumor suppressor. A failure of persistent endogenous and enforced vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in sustaining tumor viability, suggests that activated Ras tumor-maintaining action extends beyond regulation of VEGF.
